It is interesting how the PLA can so willingly buy "copies" of another countries products. Is it that the Chinese don't have the intellectual capital available to produce a really good original vehicle on their own? Where is the superiority in that? Where is your pride.

The Chinese government should do what the so-called inferior capitalist system does (since the chinese have no identity outside of their government apparently) and invest in intellectual capital to produce highly competitive "ORIGINAL" designs and products.

I applaude the modernization attempt by the Chinese which has been astounding to the rest of the world.

However, integrity and self esteem matter, not ego. So if you want to be trusted, and admired, produce original items, and do it well. Take a lesson from South Korea. They didn't simply copy electronics and knock-off cheap substitutes, LG for instance took good designs and improved them 100% and did so economically. That is innovation and that is admirable.

The Point: Make less cheap copies, and you will have a true engine of progress. The Chinese surely have the brains and the will to do great things technologically, and I for one am waiting to see what the next 20 years brings for that great nation.

There should be an international regulating body to prevent Chinese from copying designs of western cars. Let's create it now!!

Dan, I was talking exclusively about aesthetics, I don't care about performance(infact, I think that Humvee is pretty good, if USA uses it so much). The fact that FIAT isn't very known outside Italy doesn't mean that it isn't good (here FIAT is a legend, and we are talking about Italy, not about some third world country). Now don't tell me that the Iveco doesn't look prettier than the Humvee because I don't believe you :)

The Iveco LMV is totally different from the ugly Humvee. It's obvious that the proportions are similar between same class vehicles, but this don't mean that the design is similar too (Iveco is a beauty, even if it's a rough military vehicle).Talking about the chinese copy: yes it's surely identical to the Hummer!

Well I for one don't care about that it it looks like and is based upon the Humvee. Due to the nature of such vehicles in order to fulfil the brief of a military application it would end end up being similar as it seems that it is the best for the task.

The Iveco LMV, also seems to be of the same proportions. And I'm sure there are many vehicles out there which have taken the Humvee aproach to the task.

for reference the Iveco LMV

Nothing to see here folks, move along. Why do people hang around China car forums to make fun. Why don't they go to American car forums and make fun of those low-quality vehicles?

[...] Beijing Benz announced that it had overhauled the aging 2020, to bring it up to date with the American Humvee, (see China Car Times earlier post on the Chinese Humvee) The new Beijing Jeep, named ‘Warrior’ (could prove quite popular with China’s other army, the army of Counter Strike addicted teenage boys) comes equipped with a 3.2litre engine, and can survive in temperatures up to minus 41 degrees celcius! The engine is all new (even having a diesel one this time - should be better for crossing the Peoples’ rivers than the original gasoline engine), the safety aspect has been remodeled with it having ABS as standard.
I cant believe they have so deliberately copied an entire car! The shape/style of it is practically the same as the American hummer!

How much is it, any plans to export it?
