Pimped out Chery QQ – Modify your Cherry QQ!
Here at China Car Times I’ve found myself rather bored of late, other than writing articles for China Car Times I dont seem to do much else （Oh,thats right, I manage a company as well). I’ve been thinking about buying an old Chinese Car for quite some time and restoring it or beefing it up a little. I’ve looked at lots of cars both Chinese made and Russian made, for example Suzuki Alto, Beijing Jeep, Lada Niva etc (and a Fiat 126!) A while back I thought about taking a standard Chery QQ and adding a motorbike engine to it, sure it would go like Superman but it wouldn’t have a reverse gear, and I bet getting the gearbox to work would be a bit of a problem.
When the Chery first came out (standard Chery QQ shown above), I remember saying to myself “I wouldn’t be seen dead driving that!!” not that a dead person could drive a QQ, that is. Today I thought a little bit more about buying a second hand Chery QQ, they seem cheap enough on Taobao.com and then beefing it up a little. Take for example, the below picture:
You can see more images of this beefed up QQ here China Car Times is unclear as if to any engine modifications have been carried out to the standard engine (either a 0.8L or a 1.1L in standard QQ’s) China Car Times is still researching whether or not these QQ’s are really souped up under the hood or not, more news as China Car Times gets closer to loosing control of his wallet and blowing his hard earned moolah on essentially a womans car.

motorbike engine is a good idea, it can be modified to have a reverse gear, have a look at some kit car sites, many bike engined caterhams, westfields, tigers etc have been built. big engined bikes have always been illegal in china, now that the authorities are clamping down you might find someone with an unusable bike who would sell out the engine and transmission. Get a few bits out from the uk and it would ruuuunnnnnnn…….

this shows some pictures of a turbo being installed on a QQ. I suspect there may be some photoshop involved though. I have commented on it in the thread – installing a turbo is the easy bit, modifying the fuelling is the clever part, without which it won’t work.

I bought one red colour cherry QQ from Saigol motors Lahore Pakistan and regret everyday its a sheer waste of money and the dealer/machanic is not able to fix it is there anyway i can get manufractures contact info
Official site is this one http://www.cheryglobal.com/ but not sure what they will do for you… probably nothing. The QQ is based on a Chevy Spark/Daewoo Matiz so some parts may be interchangable. The dealer should fix it if its broken, do you have warranties in Pakistan?

hahahahahahahahahaha ….stitch from laughing….its a mopeg on wheels…seriously, the QQ or Matiz, what ever its called needs a bigger engine…my friend owns one and we pulled up on the highway….its struggled to 100km/h and once there, the sound system inside is virtually useless, the engine noise was so lound and coarse that i hae no intention of ever going in one again. Now seeing ppl modding these cars as if its actually worth doing, or will indeed have any sporting pedigree is just darn funny! turn a corner at 50km and ur face will be impaled on the side windows!
I was behind a 1.1 QQ the other day on the highway and it was keeping up pretty well.
spare a thought for the guy driving it…he probably was deaf….

cheryy QQ is a nice shaped and engin sound is also very, i have drived it upto 120/km/h its have a smooth drive. but here in pakistan… there r no spate parts and also short listed of workshops

Why cant I purchase the 2008 Chery QQ car here in the United States?
Well well well. What I’ve been looking for. Yes, I’d love a MOTORBIKE with some BALLS, but then we can’t use them here in CHINA. Not to mention with the creative driving they do here, even I think it’s too dangerous.
I’m just curious, where do some of you guys live and WHO is capable of PROPER VEHICLE MODIFIcATION work? Such as the comment bout the Turbo! Quite true. Remapping of timing and fuel system is required.
I’m “NOT” in any large city, but am willing once I get what I want and the proper parts for it, I’d like to know who can put it on properly and where?
Anyone has any comments I’d appreciate it.
If you wanna know what I’m looking at. Minus any current developments, waiting to see, for the M16 Suzuki engine used in the Suzuki Swift Sport and another car I want, then I’m looking at the Suzuki released Supercharger for it. Fortunately the kit comes with everything, just need someone ‘competent’ to put it on. I’ve heard that is the problem. (Includeds a piggy back ECU but since I’d be putting it on another car, back to that above problem with someone knowing how to adjust those things properly.)
I almost miss the US where this thing was so common. I don’t need a big gull wing to run someone into the ground. Just the proper engine mods and suspession and brakes set up.
For proper tuning you might want to look for a race team and have them do some work for you. I’m sure one or two of them are decent enough to do engine work.
You could tackle it yourself as well, especially if the kit includes everything you need to do so. Online Suzuki forums would be more than glad to help you with any questions you have about that.
To source a Swift Sport engine you could most likely find one in HK, Macau or even ship one in from Japan. Although it will be more expensive you are likely to get a better one than getting it here. Just make sure it fits before shelling out the cash.Some other parts you can find by doing a search on taobao.
It possible to find big bikes but as you said its next to impossible to being able to use them on the roads. Anything over 250cc is considered a big bike here.
Oh, hay ‘bill’, I think cause US is still not allowing proper min vehicles? Probably cause it doesn’t meet the specifications and that’s without getting into numberous political reasons as well. Such as who’s their American partner to sell it, but hay, there are MOTORCYCLES waaaaaaaaaay more powerful than that car. Would it be safe?
If you want something like this, PRAY they bring the Suzuki Swift over. It would then maybe open the way for such vehciles in the future.

I purchsed QQ chery last week. I felt a bit wiggling on front wheel. Cant say if its normal or defect. I wonder if it could still be fixed by our local dealer. see if it could be fixed.

dont you still have no reply on this? Please let me know. My complaint on my qq is its wiggling. this is my first follow up. I guess another comment to add: this is 16v engine. This is suppose to have atlease 15km/liter of Gas or so with its small engine and body. Why is its consumption is around 5km/liter or so. Is there any problem with my Car.

motorbike engine is a good idea, you can use a quad bike 750 cc engine it comes with reverse. or you can buy an custom made 2600 cc hyabusa engine thats two engine in one block…but its not worth putting it on a qq after all…cus i think that half of the car will go to the front and the other half will stay with the driver :}

If you are looking for a complete turbo kit including tuning and Fuel management look on ebay America in ebay motors for Joyner turbo, the Joyner Trooper T2 and Joyner Trroper T4 use the Cherry QQ3 1.1liter including computer. The Joyner Sand Viper uses the Cherry Windsong 1.6liter. The Joyner Sand Sport uses the Cherry QQ .8liter. Thanks, Nate in America

I have tried this car on a highway at 172km/hr….. Also up 3 times to Genting Highlands racing up…… but seens the parts are worned up after only 3 years in use. battery changed 3 times, alternator changed 3 times, brake pad changed once, timing belt changed once, ……
Now gear box and clutch got problems…….
Scary car on maintenance……
This car can easily do 165km/hr provided u got the guts to do it…….
Looking for anyone who done any speed above 172km/hr…..

Hi, im rasika from Sri Lanka , i brought a chery QQ last mounth.. only 30,000km genuine milage and triptronic.good condition but i have same problem in steering.. it is wagging in hard terrain and shocks making noice…
i did a full mechanical service last week by the agents and they say no problem in the vehicle and above mentioned things are normal for this car.. is it true? or something wrong… if something could happen in this low milage..
