The above photo, a spyshot of a heavily camouflaged Brilliance Coupe, became reality today at the press opening of the Beiiing 2006 Car Show.

Looking somewhat like a Mercedes coupe, the Zhonghua has a smaller engine than the Mercedes, however, the engine was designed in house by Brilliances’ own engineers. It would be wise to note, that in Zhonghua/Brilliance Shenyang factory there is a team of BMW engineers working alongside their own engineers to help Brilliance/Zhonghua produce some really really beautiful cars.
You can see more photos of the new coupe here, …

The new Chery models were released today, to the left is the new Chery Tigo 5! Its had a great face lift – astute readers may remember that the original Tigo looked a lot like the Toyota RAV4, until now! This one seems to look more like a Great Wall Hover Jeep though. Heres a photo of the RAV4 and heres a picture of the original Tigo for comparison
No word on pricing as of yet, but I’m sure it wont be much more than the original Chery Tigo was. Click …

Despite having the name ‘Maple Leaf’ Maple leaf cars have nothing to do with that great big country Canada, in fact, it is a subsidy of Chinese car manufacturer Geely. This four door sedan was based Citroen acquired technology (unknown how it was acquired) and looks a bit like an Hyundai Elantra from the side and a Cadillac from the front. Still – Chinese cars are looking better and better, wonder what the quality is like? No word on price as of yet!
UPDATE: I was behind a Cadillac CTS this …

I’ve always wanted a Smart, but was always afraid that my friends would laugh in my face and continuously mock me with vicious attacks regarding my sexuality, boys will be boys after all – I never did buy a Smart car but after coming to China and seeing that some boys were obviously gay but living the straight life I decided that even I could buy a Smart car and be at least somewhat straight looking! Alas, Smart cars are not to be found in China, I did a good …

I dont know where Geely gets it’s cars name from, hell, even just ‘leopard’ would be a great name but they called it ‘Beauty Leopard’ ?!?
Anyway, for 2007, the ‘Beauty Leopard’ gets a new front end and a new rear engine, plus a couple of new engine sizes. Still doesnt have that ‘omph’ look that the other cars in its range/spec field have, i.e. the Hyundai coupe, still for just over $10,000 its not that bad.

Geely have gone officially nuts – doors of a Delorean, the front end of a UFO, but somehow the car looks great! Still only a concept car though, I’m sure the Geely ‘Feng Yin‘ or stealthy wind will never go into production.

The symbol of all things American, the overly big, resource wasting, road hogging SUV come monster truck jeep – the Humvee has an Asian copycat, in terms of the East Wind (Dong Feng in Chinese) EQ2050 and Shenyang Aircraft Industry Co’s SFQ2040 HMWWV (pictured below)
Sinopec has actually bought real Humvees from the USA in the 90’s for use in the civillian sectors. According to Sinodefence.com, the chassis and several parts of the engine come from GM, would the PLA want to rely on foreign companies to supply its potentially main …

Landind, aka, Jiangling Motors has taken an Izuzu Rodeo, or a Vauxhall Frontera body, depending on how you look at it regardless, Jiangling plans to export their Landwind jeep to Europe. However, they have hit a slight snag as they have managed to get an all time low on a European safety test, but Landwind is already on sale in the European mainland but expects to be exporting them to the UK pretty soon with an expected price tag of £10,000 ($20,000). The German testers of the Landwind determined that …

Back in 2004, MG Rover finally went bankrupt. Rovers bankruptcy had been on the cards for years, a far cry from its golden days in the 60’s and 70’s when Rover was a brand that many British people were proud of. Rover was sold to a host of companies in its time. The glory days are long gone, Rover became insolvent and torn apart like corpse between two Chinese vultures. The intellectual property was snapped up at a bargain price by SAIC – (Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation) SAIC bought the …
