A China Car Times translation from the Chinese car website, acspy.com (note, site is in Chinese)
2006/12/05, at 2pm in China Automobiles Technology research center, the Chery A5 succesfully passed a crash test with a score of 100%, representivies from the Chery factory, and the Chery technology centre as well as various reporters and journalists where their to witness the test.

From the above picture, you can see a side impact, it shows the A5’s airbags have opened, and also the pressure resulting from the frontal impact has not changed the shape of the car.

From the picture you can see that the child in the rear of the car is safe, even after the crash.

The windshield is still largely intact and hasn’t broken into many small pieces.

The car doors have not changed shape as a result of the crash, you can see clearly that the doors open as normal.

China Car Times is impressed that the A5 has passed this test, but what about side impact tests or the whole host of tests that seem to happen in European or American crash tests? Why is there only pictures, and subsequent cheering for Chery passing the front impact test? Some more information would be nice boys!
Thanks to ACspy for providing the pictures and the story.

[…] Bricklin was previously stated in November 2006 via the Wall Street Journal that Chery could not build or engineer a car that was safe enough for the US market, fast forward to December 2006 Chery released crash test photos showing the Chery A5 in a head on collision scenario, Chery passed the test with full marks, proving that the Chery A5 is a safe car. So whats wrong with Mr. Bricklin, sour grapes? Perhaps. […]
