Chery Conference in Beijing

You Chinese car addicts must have had this event in your diary, surely? We know we didnt errr did! We just forgot about it….

Anyways, Chery announced the the diesel version of the Chery V5 crossover will be on the market soon. China Car Times wants to buy the 1.9 turbo diesel version ASAP! The V5′s diesel engine is from the ATECO range of engines. The diesel V5 is around 120,000RMB.

Just where did Chery pick up that bodykit? Do they have a time machine that allows them to go back to the late 80′s to the mid 90′s? I think this A18 is supposed to go up against the Honda Jazz VTi in the Chinese hot hatch market, the Honda gets our votes on looks. The A18 gets our vote on price, roughly 50,000RMB. The Honda Jazz is around 100,000RMB.

Chery award various top class cars to best performing Chery dealers, they awarded a Chrysler 300c and several Mercs to various dealerships. Wonder why they didn’t push their own luxury label, the F11? They could have even delayed the conference to give factories the time to produce three or four for the dealers. Are Chery trying to give the impression that foreign branded luxury cars are better than domestic ones?
