Bei Qi Autos, a company that has long been in a joint venture agreement with the iconical American SUV maker Jeep. Beijing Autoworks and the then AMC hooked up in 1984, production continued even after Chrsyler bought out AMC. For over 20 years the design of the Jeep Cherokee has not changed much, except for slight alterations to the front grill and headlights. The Cherokee is still made in Beijing, except it is named the 2500. Bei Qi makes its own version of the Jeep, as with many joint venture automobile companies in China, the domestic partner gets to produce an ‘offshoot’ carbon copy of the original vehicle - Think of the Xia Li/Toyota joint venture. Xia Li sells the Toyota superminis under the Xia Li brand alongside the Toyota variants. The above Bei Qi ‘Qi Shi‘ - literally meaning the ‘Cavalry‘ is expected to be on the market between March and April and the starting price will be just 100,000RMB or $12,906USD.

hey, my name is Craig and i am a proud owner of a 1997 Jeep Cherokee Sport (XJ) i am quite curious as to what the Jeep 2500 has to offer. What Transfer case does it have? what kind of rear axle and front axle does is have? is it still a 4.0L straight 6 or is the new 3.7L V-6? How is the front suspension set up? Is it still the 4 arm quadra-trac? what kind of transmissions does it have? and what kind of packages do you offer? such as tow package, off road package, UpCountry Package? What are the after market company like for this vehicle, so is it possible to buy products for it such as performance chips, exhaust, gear kit, lift kits, snorkels…so and so forth.

your help is very much appreciated.

Craig

CRAIG,
I HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING THE 2500 FOR SEVERAL YEARS NOW EVER SINCE I SAW AN ARTICLE IN JP MAGAZINE. THEY SAID IT WAS PRETTY MUCH ONLY AVAILABLE WITH A 2.5LITER FOUR CYLINDER (HENCE THE NAME 2500) AND A MANUAL TRANS. I AGREE WITH EVERYONE IN THIS PAGE THAT THEIR NEEDS TO BE A KIT TO CONVERT THE CHEROKEES TO THE 2500 FRONT END. OTHER THAN THE FRONT END ITS PRETTY MUCH THE SAME AS A 97-01 CHEROKEE.

Import these to the U.S. and I will buy one. If you can’t do this at least offer a “kit” or sell parts. Especially the front clip which is different than U.S. Cherokees.

Fellas,

Thanks for commenting. Due to the number of emails I get about this particular ‘front end’ we are working on a plan to start selling them in the USA.

Keep watching this page!

If you could post a page with close up photos of the front clip (from both sides, front, under chin & from above) it would help immensely.

Concerns are as follows:
Fender flares appear to be part of fender.
Fender to door fitment.
Hood dimensions: Same as US built XJ Cherokees? * (ie: Would the kit require a new hood or will it work with existing hood?)
“Bumperette” mounting and construction: A photo of the bumper assembly or parts diagram would be helpful to determine if the “bumperette” mounting is the same as US bumpers.

I have a friend who deals with the aftermarket Jeep enthusiast crowd & sells a LOT of Jeep off road equipment. He is an established and reputable dealer experienced with drop shipping & customer service. I would be glad to put you in touch with him.

I also have an Jeep Cherokee / XJ website (www.lunghd.com) and would be happy to promote the “kit” there.

Regards,
Dwayne
