It would be a big fat waste for us to post these bits of news into individual news so here the all are together:
Geely gets a new driver - Geely, the manufacturer of King Kong cars got a new boss in its Shanghai Maple Leaf subsidiary (they make a rather nice car actually)today, Mr. Liu Jin Liang. The previous captain of the ship, Mr. Xu Gang, will remain on as chairman.
Chery retools a factory - Chery spent a load of dosh tooling up a factory that it bought from FAW Yangzi, the factory has a maximum output of 80,000 vehicles at current capacity. Chery plan to make a 7-seater light vehicle (we can guess the Chery V5?) and also according to news reports a 13 seat wagon - We dont know anything about a Chery wagon! Apparently they are also working on a new van that will cost between 20,000 and 30,000rmb. I think we will have to wait until next year to see some of these models, unless of course friends of China Car Times can divulge some photos with us….
Beijing Benz rolling in cash - China became Mercedes biggest buyer of its cars, managing to sell 2700 units last month alone and offsetting Japan as the previous big spenders on Mercs.

That’s a nice promotion for Geely’s former Vice President of Sales….
Is it really a promotion? I think its more of a sideways shuffle to raise Maple Leafs presence to Geely like levels in mainland China.
