Chery makes its 800,000th vehicle!
Chery passed an amazing milestone today in its short lifespan (just ten years actually!) its 800,000th vehicle which was a Chery QQ6! The Chery QQ6 is being dubbed as the ‘Chinese Beetle’ according to Xinhua news. In 2006 Chery became the fourth seventh largest producer of vehicles in China, and the fourth largest producer of sedans.
Cherys production figures are like this:
2002: 50,000 cars
2005: 189,000 cars
2006: 305,000 cars
Wow. In addition, Chery has ramped up production for 2007 and now claims it can produce 350,000 vehicles per year as well as 400,000 engines, and 300,000 transmissions. Chery plans to double its exports in 2007 – in 2006 Chery exported 50,000 vehicles, up 178% over 2005. Perhaps 2007 will be the year of the Chery?
Update: ballsed up that figure didn’t I.
