Which Lacrosse do you prefer? American or Chinese?

21 March 2007 8 Comments

Buick have two different versions of the Lacrosse, one for the Chinese market, and one for the American market.

The Chinese one is to the left, the American to the right. Click them for bigger images.

The Buick Lacrosse was first introduced in 2005 in the US markets with either a 3.6 engine or a 3.8 engine on top of an automatic box, funnily enough the Hertz rental chain put the Lacrosse in their ‘environmentally friendly’ line up of rental cars. Funnier still, is that Lacrosse means to masturbate in Ontario French. The Chinese version of the Lacrosse was designed by Shanghai GM’s Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center and looks quite a bit different from the American model, but we will leave it to our viewers to decide: Which do you prefer, the American or the Chinese version?

The Lacrosse is sold as the Buick Allure in Canada. “Lacrosse” is french-canadian slang in Quebec, not Ontario, for masturbation. GM builds all of these cars for North American in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. And yes, most everyone in NA thinks the China version is better styled on the exterior; the interior is gorgeous compared to the plain North American version.

Not only does the Chinese Lacrosse look better than the American version, the entire Chinese Buick line looks better than any Buick currently on sale in North America.

The Buick SUV will be in China very soon though.

    hello
I just read this old post and would like to tell what i learned attending the launch ceremony for this car here in Shanghai: the car has been engineered by PATAC, but the design of the exteriors is made in Italy (I.DE.A Institute of Turin) and the design of the interiors is made in Japan (Links Design, I think they’re based in Tokyo)…

To be honest I don’t like either. The one on the left is too over the top and glitzy (large chrome grille and mascot on the bonnet) and the other one lokos like an odd cross of last generation Frod Mondeo and Jag S-type which has melted!! American styling can be a little odd sometimes!
