The Emperors New Clothes – SAIC Hybrid Roewe?

24 March 2007 No Comment

We’ve previously blogged about this hybrid vehicle before, but until now we havent heard anything more about it… until today! We’ve got some better looking pictures, and some more information.

sh.jpgWe believe that SAIC have had this in the planning stage for some time, but until they bought the Rover 75 models from Rover, they probably never had anything decent to put their hybrid technology into until now. The Shanghai branded car, a brand resurrected by SAIC, follows the Roewe 750 design both externally, and internally the only differences being under the hood. We at China Car Times think the Shanghai logo (pictured left) looks a lot better than the Roewe logo, also it sounds better – Shanghai Autos or Roewe? hmmm.

We at China Car Times think this is one of the nicest hybrids ever shown (we hope they put into production though!) The Chinese press are saying the car will go on the market in 2008 and with a price of around 450,000RMB. What do China Car Times readers think?
