More cars we’ve seen before from Great Wall

3 April 2007 4 Comments

Great Wall make some great looking cars, they actually look really really really really good, just the problem is they look like many other already developed cars. Last year at the Beijing Auto Show Great Wall made a bit of a scene of itself with several cars that were somewhat inspired by existing Fiat and Nissan designs, yes, we are talking about the Great Wall Peri/Perry/Pery (just how do you spell it?) Anyway, this year at the 2007 Shanghai Auto Show, Great Wall will be showing off their new MPV the ‘Cowry’ (below)

Following on from the Cowry, Great Wall will also show the ‘i7′ Does everyone have to put an ‘i’ in front of their products these days?

And finally, The Great Wall ‘Gwperi’ (according to Chinese press sources, they are probably wrong though) its apparently a 4×4 version of the Perry already mentioned above.

The “Cowry” is probably a reskinned Nissan Elgrand or Toyota Alphard. The “i7″ is a slightly
uglified Toyota Vitz/Yaris. Btw- is Cowry a rip off of Camry? I guess this is cheaper than developping their own products, and the product is better quality too, but can’t they at least get a license from Toyota?

I think the GWPery is based off of one of the Jeeps – the smallest one, whats it called the Liberty or some such? Either that or im getting confused with the Suzuki Jimney thing.

The Cowry MPV is a definite clone of 2005 Toyota Voxy… with a slight change on the grille
