Roewe Sales – Hotter than Expected

Yesterday we saw a Roewe 750 on the road with Shanghai plates, and boy did it look beautiful compared to the Chinese cars around it – a real touch of elegance.

Anyway, Roewe are boasting that its sales of the 750 are ‘exploding’ according to the Chinese headline – with 6300 deposits taken since deposit taking started happening on February 1st 2007 (depending on city it seems) – thats roughly 70 days in total, give or take a few. So if our GCSE maths serves us right, Roewe is roughly taking 90 deposits per day on its range of 750 models. Good work, we’ll wait and see what Nanjing MG can do in the first few months.

We’re quite shocked that Roewe – a brand that was created in November it seems has managed to do quite so well in such a short time, however, the more than aggressive advertising campaign that SAIC initiated was probably a big, big help.

There is some more Roewe stats here, previously on China Car Times.

We’ve also been hearing rumors of a Roewe 750 being prepared for the Brazilian market, if this is true or not we will have to wait and see
