Malcolm Bricklin Talks To Business Week

Malcolm Bricklin, the man who has been talked about quite a bit on China Car Times, has done an interview with Business Week magazine regarding his plans to design, create, and manufacturer an electric car in China that can do 100-150mpg.

Personally, we just think he’s talking with BYD who showed an electric prototype vehicle at the Beijing Auto show last year - BYD is also a top maker of batteries in China, which compliments their car work quite nicely. Check out what they were offering in 2004:

We [BYD] have made a breakthrough in the quality and functions of rechargeable lithium-ion batteries for electric cars; a maximum speed of 125 kilometre/hour could be realized and every recharge could support another 400-kilometre drive,” Chairman Wang Chuanfu said at a recent forum.

So, as far as electric cars go in China, BYD are leading the way and pounding the other car makers into the floor.

I just saw a video-documentary about a japanese professor who developed an electric car with a top speed of 400 K/h, he came to china to do some research in the area and found that there is a chinese company in Zhensheng wich is ahead producing lithium-ion batteries, actually this company was already emsambling taxis for the city, those taxis could drive all day long with just one charge and could reach an speed of 120 K/h with 4 passengers.

Im looking forward for this technology to become available. I think China have great chance to become the first country in successfully produce electric cars in mass.
