Nanjing Autos, owner of the ‘Soyat’ brand which just seems to comprise of the one single hatchback car - a trusty early generation Seat Ibiza, China Car Times thinks it might even be a first generation Seat Ibiza. Anyway, we digress from the topic at hand. Soyat have updated their car for 2007/8, hold onto your cap its quite a change:

Apparently there is a 1.2 and a 1.5 version of the Ibiza Soyat

Perhaps the competition from other domestically made coupes like the future Chery Fulwin/Shooting Sport and the now Nanjing owned MGTF have forced Geely into getting a proper design team together to revamp their Beauty Leopard coupe. The original Beauty Leopard was ugly, that car looked like it had been dragged kicking and screaming from the early 80s, the second revised version wasnt that much better looking either. What do China Car Times readers think of this latest incarnation of the Beauty Leopard (below)

Wow. Bit of a politically charged area of the world to make cars in, especially if they are making the cars for export:
JERUSALEM, Israel — China’s Chery Automobile will team with Israel Corp., an Israeli holding company, to assemble vehicles in that country.
A report in the Shanghai Daily said the Israeli company is investing $225 million in a joint venture with Chery to make cars both for the local market and for export, with Europe and the United States among the target markets.

We posted about the Shooting Sport a few weeks ago, it seems the Shooting Sport was received by the Chinese press. However, Chery often shows amazing concept cars but never actually gets around to making them, or they do make the concept cars but it takes a few years - like the Chery Wow (expected to be shown at the Shanghai Auto Show)

These pictures were being marked as the ‘1.8T Roewe 750′ they may well be the car in question, but astute China Car Times readers may notice something about the car that doesn’t ring true, it does have Shanghai car plates though, although they are marked as ‘test’ plates, i.e. its meant for testing and the car is outside a Roewe office or dealer. Perhaps those who say Roewe is not a Rover will change their minds now
