The Big Black WWF Cloud in China

We mean the WWF for environment, not the one where those guys run around in speedos hitting each other. It seems the WWF were here in China telling everyone how bad the environment is here, like duh, we and 1.3 billion other people in China already know the environment sucks, especially in big cities like Beijing and Shanhai, but our sunny Qingdao is still a pleasant place.

Anyway, as part of their stunt, they took an old Xia Li and inflated a big black balloon using exhaust fumes alone, just to show how much fumes the average beat up Xia Li puts out in a single journey, although we think they mean they were running that car all day to blow that balloon up.

This is only what is spewed from the tailpipe into the atmosphere….
not to mention the some 10 or so different hazardous liquid wastes (per vehicle), that will find their way into the groundwater over the life of every car sold. That is unless reasonable controls are initiated by the Central Government.

    Dragin,

I think something ‘radical’ is the only way forward, the central government should be throwing money at research centers, universities etc to produce low cost batteries for either electric or hybrid vehicles

Then there is the fact that E-Vehicles are banned on Chinese roads. Also there are power shortages almost every summer when everyone flicks on their AC units at home/work :D
