Want a Roewe? Get in line.

<a href=Roewe 750" title="Roewe 750" src="http://www.chinacartimes.com/wp-content/p1040726.JPG" />We said that Roewe sales were hot, but we didn’t realize just how hot! If you want to buy a Roewe 750 in China right now, you’ll have to wait 3 months as it seems that the demand for the car is a lot larger than what SAIC were expecting. Still, it seems the 3 month waiting list for a Roewe 750 is not discouraging sales - sales are currently at 8,000 units since going on the market in February.

The good news is, the delays are only affecting those that wanted certain colors, if you want either a black, blue or silver Roewe 750, you’ll only have to wait one month.

So if you want a Roewe, get down to your dealer and stick down a 10-50,000rmb deposit and come back in a few months. We’re awfully tempted…

I wouldnt make too much of a three month delay on specific colours. Car manufacturers make batches of each colour. A one month delay is no delay at all. The three month delay on other colours will be because in the next three months they are building black blue and silver, (possibly one month of each?). They appear to be selling around 3000 units per month or 36,000 units per annum. To put it in perspective, BMW Oxford are manufacturing 250,000 Minis a year. When the MG7 becomes available, even those who are most pessimistic about NAC’s chances will expect them to eat into the total sales for Rover 75 derivitaves. I dont know what SAICs expectations were, but 36,000 units a year seems relatively modest. I suspect the demand for their smaller vehicle when it comes to market will be much more impressive. It looks the bees knees.

First Roewe production numbers are now available: four months, from January till April, Roewe produced 4483 cars. As production is growing, I expect as final number for 2007: 28.500 units.

SAIC killed the MG Rover Group. They should be punished and never sale just one silly wrong-way-car

    Anonym,

    SAIC killed MG Rover? Rubbish.

SAIC pulled out of the Rover purchase when it suddenly became aware that there were massive voids in MG-Rovers accounts.

When Rover shut down I was very upset, I have had 3 Rover 75s and a mgzt, all have been great. I spent£29,750 on a rover 2 months before they closed and the value halved over night. I feel rover / mg should have put effort it to keeping the cars they had completely up to date as is the Roewe I think the redesigned body work looks great. I did say I would never buy one but why not every other car in the UK seems to come from aborad. After all what do we make here any more !

not SAIC killed MG-Rover but BMW years ago… this is the way, you kill competitors: firstly you buy them, then you make them down, then you show surprised and upset, then you sell them, then you wait until they are destroyed, then you see them going off to china… so BMW lasts…
