Just like with the Skoda Octavia, the Chinese motoring press are getting a bit excited with the imminent production of the Mazda 2 super mini, the Mazda 2 will go on the market in Japan later this year, but domestic production for the Chinese market is understood to begin soon. The Mazda 3, with its fresh, cool styling is certainly to be a hit with younger, and older drivers alike in China the same way the Peugeot 207 (and Citroen C2 – they share the same platform/body in China) is.The Mazda 2 is based off of the Ford B3 platform – and so is the Ford Fiesta, we think the Ford Fiesta (or rather, the Ford Ikon – it was only sold in saloon form in certain countries, with a new name) with average sales got canned in favor of a [much] better looking Mazda 2.

The Mazda 2 will be produced in Chang’an Mazda’s Nanjing factory later this year, and will be priced between 80,000 and 10,000rmb.
