More info on the Chery - Quantum tie up

5 June 2007 No Comment

When Chrysler was down on its knees, Chery jumped into an agreement with Quantum LLC - the American subsidiary of Israel Corp, information about the deal has been slow (as in non existent!) we still dont know where the cars are heading, will they be going for North American shores? We learnt a little bit more today:

Jun. 1, 2007 (China Knowledge) – Chery Automobile Co. Ltd., a leading sedan producer in China, will join hands with Quantum LLC, an American provider of alternative fuel solution, to set up a joint venture with total investment of RMB 5.83 billion for an output capacity of 150,000 high-end autos, a Chery insider said. Under the agreement, Chery will be entitled to brand the cars

150,000 high end autos? What will that be then? The Chery F11? The Chery M11? One aspect of the agreement is that Chery will be able to brand the cars as their own, which is different to the Dodge deal where Dodge could take any of the Chery range and badge it up as a Dodge. China Car Times hopes that more info is forthcoming from both sides, and soon.
