Roewe make 10,000th engine

Roewe are having a party today to celebrate the 10,000th KV6 engine they have made at the SAIC Bo Shan engine factory since putting them into production earlier this year. Roewe invited the press to come and look at the 10,000th engine (pictured above, aint she pretty!) We didn’t get invited sadly, although from reading the Chinese motoring press we learned that a spokesperson for Roewee was quoted as saying ‘The 10,000th domestically made V6 engine was clearly a breakthrough, and a giant leap for Chinese automobile technology’. Roewe claims that the new improved V6 engine in use in the Roewe 750 is much better than the original one used in the Rover 75 series of cars (savings are made on the amount of fuel the engine now uses). The Chinese motoring press are calling the KV6 ‘The king of the V6 engines‘. The KV6 engine gives the Roewe 750 a top speed of 220kph and a 0-100kph time of 10.2s. By the end of the year, Roewe aims to produce 80,000 KV6 engines per year at the Bo Shan engine factory.

Poor workers, they look a little tired and dirty after all that effort!
It appears to be made from Rover spare parts – http://www.xcar.com.cn/bbs/attachment.php?aid=6589794&noupdate=yes
Now where are the Turbo 4 cylinder engines we were promised last October?
Its Windy Omar from the Roverban!
1.8T – I keep getting told different dates, probably before the end of the year.
Is it a good thing, or a bad thing that they are using Rover stock? I cant decide! Technically it must mean they truly understand British car culture i.e. taking the scraps of previous generations cars and building them into new cars?
They are more English orientated than everyone gives them credit for!

It’s always a good idea to use well proven, well tested and widely available components, only thing is … that picture is of the fly by wire throttle that was never fitted to a Rover car!
:O
Is this an improvement then?
Err, it seems that the whole engine may have been made in UK!
