Brilliance BS6 Crash Test Pictures

From what we understand the German motoring organization ADAC and a Dutch manufacturing group ANWB recently tested the Brilliance BS6 in their own crash testing facilities and gave it a rather miserable 2 stars, to add insult to injury they took a star away for the dismal side impact test, the end result being only 1 star out of a maximum of five. No, being critical of Chinese vehicles is allowed, but being critical of recent Chinese product incidents such as tainted cat/dog food, and tooth paste will be removed.

Damn this is scary. For the price that you pay for the car, which face it, they are competing with the second hand market, you are getting, in my oppinion, less safety than from another better known brand’s 10 year old car. The market for these cars are there, but I dont think people know really where the price differance lies. Is there no whay that they can be helped to bring the safety standard up? This could have many side effects to any country who imports the cars in the long term. Road deaths could increase dramatically which could change legislation and see these cars banned and cost them the right to sell in Europe of other countries with safty tests.
In the end the decision is with the buyer, for now.
Idd. The launch, here in Belgium, was recalled and the cy. that tried to sell them (Cardoen) had a second set-back. (they also tried to launch the Landwind)
This is also bad news for me as I am/was planning to get some Chinese TTW’s to the Belgian market. The “Made in China” label is not doing well her in Europe :-/

Too bad the news came out that bad. When you look at the price of the Brilliance, it doesnt perform that bad, especially compared to second-hand cars. (By the way: ANWB is also a motoring organisation in the Netherlands, just like ADAC, not a manufaturer)
The European and American press are really having a field-day with the horrible failures of Chinese cars in crash tests. Some of this is due to fear and xenophobia. But they are correct: Chinese manufacturers have to pass all safety tests before they can be successful in Europe and America. The Chinese manufacturers will be seen with much suspicion and the native automobile manufacturers will make the most of any weakness in Chinese products.
I think that much damage has been done to the Chinese automobile export industry by these safety failures. These cars should have been tested in China, and the problems with safety fixed, before being sent for testing in Germany, where their failures can be held up for the world to see and ridicule. There are many automobile executives in China that should lose their jobs for these mistakes.
I am disheartened to learn that Chrysler is partnering with Chinese manufacturers, and this was announced just after another Chinese vehicle safety test failure. Evidently, Chrysler doesn’t think that their image will suffer. I disagree. Perhaps this is part of the reason that Daimler could not successfully integrate Chrysler into its operations. Mercedes has long been the world’s top brand in terms of reliability and rated very highly in safety (behind only Volvo). There were some bad years at Daimler, but I have heard they have recovered.
I would rather buy a 1985 Mercedes 300D that is in good condition than one of these new ‘disposable’ cars.
