You can buy the Chery V2 in July 07 (but why would you?)
The Chery V2, one of Cherys more ‘dangerous’ designs, (dangerous in the fact that it has a cancerous looking tumor above the driver/passenger cab area) will go on the market around 13th July 2007.
The hump backed mini MPV will be formally given an English name, rather than the internal code name, V2, that it has been adorned with so far. However, we at China Car Times think the internal codename is much better than the English name it has been christened with. The Chery V2 is now to be known as the ‘Riich’ thats Riich with two i’s and not one, just in case you were wondering.
The Riich will come with a 1.3l engine and will obviously be squaring up against the Suzuki Landy in the Chinese domestic market, which also just happens to be a mini MPV with a 1.3l motor.
We saw a Riich on the roads a few months back, and it is pretty ugly. We dont know why we dislike this MPV so much other than its ugly, perhaps we are just vain, shallow people.
Hope the Suzuki Landy trounces it into the floor and Chery never try anything so ugly ever again. This must be the second ugliest car in the world, the first generation Fiat Multipla being number one of course. Prices of the Riich have yet to be announced, but the pricing will be announced at the Changchun car show later next month.

The ugliness of this Chery model would sell well to the now generation in the U.S., as Toyota Scion is gleefully learning. Anything that flies in the face of the established suburban car culture, is cool…, or rather hot….whatever.

I am young and full of youth and vigor and all of that stuff. (actually, im young but fat and balding, but hey!)
The Chery V2 is just plain ugly however you sell it, the Scion on the other hand is cool, so is the Nissan cube thing!
The roof profile is taken directly off the Opel Vivaro / Renault Trafic (which of course is a much larger van). It looked strange when it was introduced in Europe some years ago, but it has become hugely popular, at least here in Northern Europe.
