Toyota Prius becomes a three wheeler!

what_the_prius.jpgThe Toyota Prius, the car that made Hybrid vehicles famous across the world has a new competitor in China! QingQi group, a Shandong based company that has a joint venture agreement with Suzuki (and recently, Peugeot) to make motorbikes for the domestic and foreign markets has been busy over the past few weeks and months since we last gave one of their factories a visit on the outskirts of Jinan city (capital city of Shandong province). Click the image on the left for a bigger picture.
We dont have any other information about the Qingqi three wheeled ‘Prius’ - its not on the Qingqi website. Nor do we have any tech specs, other than its a three wheeled Prius clone and looks like it might actually be electric (unless its a 2 stroke engine with a tiny pea shooter tail pipe under the rear bumper.

Even the migrant worker looks a little dazzled by the three wheeled Prius copy!

Is that a WagonR clone towards the back end?

Perhaps this new three wheeled Prius is the 08 model ;)

KKrit, you are right - many Chinese clone cars use the QQ doors for some reason.

I really just can’t imagine anyone buying that. I live in a small city and people have smallish salaries even in my office. But, none of them even want to buy a Chinese made car; they want something foreign - a product that says something about them. I can’t see anyone wanting to buy a monstrosity like this.

It is the farmers that drive these three wheeled vehicles - maybe this is aimed at the village taxi market or the farmer who wants to go to town?

Anyway I am sure it gets great milage like the Prius. :p

This ain’t no 3 wheel prius, and this guy is not amazed at it. This is a photo taken at a junk yard of the back side of a wrecked pos (Piece of S–t) that just happens to be missing it’s front end.
