It seems that China Motor Corp, the US company that plans to import the Brilliance range of vehicles (including their coupe) to the USA as of next year. Unphased by the recent terrible test crash of the BS6, China Motor Corp still plans on exporting the Chinese made cars to the USA. Americans, get ready for the first wave of Chinese automobiles on the roads!
BRILLIANCE China Automotive Holdings Ltd plans to start selling a US$20,000 vehicle in the US next year, BusinessWeek reported, citing David Shelburg, chief executive of China Motor, the Chinese automaker’s US dealer.
The vehicle is being certified against US safety and emission requirements, the magazine said. The article didn’t say what type of vehicle it was. About 100 US dealers already want to carry Brilliance vehicles, the article said, citing Shelburg.
Brilliance China has already begun selling a US$30,000 sedan in Europe and it plans to add at least two more models there next year, the report said.
The automaker, based in Hong Kong, is a Chinese partner of Bayerische Motoren Werke AG.
With Mr. Shelburg’s plans, seeing is believing. Earlier plans to import Great Wall, Zhongxing, and other vehicles, never materialized (see People’s Daily June 29,2004). Perhaps his dreams of beating his old rival Malcom Bricklin to the punch, will come true this time.
The Brilliance doesn’t meet European NCAP crash tests and is unsafe at any speed. Same goes for the piece of crap Landwind, and the QQ car. Anyone who purchases these vehicles solely on price is putting their family at a grave risk and any dealer who sells such a car should be held financial liable for the deaths of anyone in them due to their shoddy and unsafe structure.
