Fast on the heels of yesterdays MG7 news piece we bring you news of the new MG 3 ZR. The original MGZR, based off the Rover 25 but with sports styling (and some magic done under the hood) proved popular in the UK and Europe with younger buyers and chavs In 2004 The MGZR was MG-Rovers best selling car. In China, China Car Times could easily see this 1.8 mini monster compete with the Ford Focus sports. No word on pricing yet, but we’re pretty excited to see this car back on the road again! We havnt heard any particular date when the MG3 ZR will be going on the market, or if it is only aimed at the Chinese market rather than Euro markets, however, once we hear of any information China Car Times readers can rest assure we will be updating you.

Although the MG7 seems to have had an interior face lift for 2007/2008, it seems the MGZR has stayed the same, perhaps an eagle eyed ZR owner could point if there are any differences. As usual, click the images to see bigger versions.

Apart from what appears to be the new TF steering wheel and Streetwise alloys, there are no differences. That’s a Longbridge-parts bin ZR.They’ve even left all the old ZR badging on, despite the hasty addition of that “MG3″ logo!

very strange pictures, melange of old MG ZR and new MG3, streetwise alloys
Pre serie or modele definitiv?
Arnaud,
You are right, it is an odd Frankenstein of a vehicle, but I am not sure if it is to go into production or just a teaser.
I bet they’ll produce it in China though!
Is it me or in one of the pictures, the MG on the steering wheel is upside down? Perhaps they turned the wheel so that it’s upside down.
