Chinese motoring news in brief!
- CHINA’s passenger vehicle sales rose to 3.54 million in the first seven months this year, up 23.7 percent from the same period last year, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
Sales of sedans jumped 26.6 percent to 2.64 million, sports-utility vehicles soared 46.4 percent to 187,600, and multi-purpose vehicles rose 17.8 percent to 124,400.
July’s passenger vehicle sales declined 10.45 percent from the previous month, however.
- PREMIER Automotive Group reported yesterday that second-quarter sales of Jaguar luxury cars in China rose 14 percent to 269 units.
Chinese customers bought a combined 458 Jaguars in the first half this year, the group, an affiliate of Ford Motor Corp, said in a statement. In June, sales jumped 84 percent to 90 units.
“We are quite optimistic in the market potential in China,” said Christopher Brown, executive chairman of Jaguar China.
