Geely comes back with the Beauty Leopard

mrb1.jpg

The Geely Mei Ren Bao, literally the ‘Beauty Leopard’ has gone back to the drawing board and come back out looking like a strong contender for the battle of the Chinese coupes. Overall the Beauty Leopard doesnt look too bad, but there are still some small areas that could do with a touch up, like the tiny exhausts (the previous generation Beauty Leopards had a fake plastic exhaust pipe) and the big ugly badge on the front. It does look like this generation Beauty Leopard has taken some design cues from the 2007 Shanghai auto show Beauty Leopard concept car, but we prefer the original concept.

As well as having a makeover, the Geely has had an engine upgrade. Gone have the 1.5l engines of the previous Beauty Leopards, Geely have had a proper think about making a sports car and have given buyers a choice of either 1.5, 1.6, and a 1.8l engine, all of which come in either manual or automatic transmission. Still, this is probably the cheapest of all Chinese sports cars - the Beauty Leopard starts at 60,680rmb.
Im sure China Car Times readers agree, although this generation Beauty Leopard does not look 100%, its still a thousand times better than the previous generations
Keep working on it Geely!

Not too much different from Geely’s “China Dragon” shown at the Frankfurt show the year before last.
Looks like square tailpipes gave way to round and white taillights gave way to red.

This car have an slight resemblance with the Hyundai coupe, but again here it comes Geely daring with design, really good looking car, I think for the first time I would conider buy a Chinese car. Of course those tyres go off, this car need bigger and better legs to complete this agresive appearance.

I think this company in fe years will become one of the most innovative in China and seriously considered for the international market.

Hats off to GEELY!
