Geely give Yuan Jing a makeover, pop in a 6 speed automatic box

Geely seem to be upto speed with their Antonov deal – for their latest incarnation of the Geely Yuanjing, Geely have stuck in a 1.8 CVVT motor and a six speed auto box. Impressed, we were!

In 2002 Geely were making 3 speed automatic gear boxes by themselves, of course they weren’t too good and Geely were eager to get something better in their cars. Along came the Antonov deal and Geely found itself flush with new technology that would help it to lead the pack in China.

Geely have sold 8,000 Yuan Jing cars since they went on the market in January this year, not a bad figure seeing as Geely is somewhat looked down upon in China. Geely have also come up with a new slogan, which can be basically translated as saying ‘worldly man, a domestic leader’ (世界先进，国内领先) if anyone wants to try and translate that better, be our guest.
