If sex had 4 wheels, and a metal body, it would look like this

Brilliance are getting ready to put their coupe on the market, and we’ve finally seen what it looks like:

China Car Times showed this picture to  a mixed group of friends, some Japanese, some British and we asked what this car was. The answers were amazing, its a Maserratti, a new Porsche, its American. Sorry boys, you were all wrong, its Chinese, and it will cost from 160,000rmb when its put on the market in September this year.

The coupe will come with a 1.8 turbo engine that was self developed by Brilliance and is used in Brilliances other cars.  China Car Times will keep you updated.

To be fair I did finally guess it was a Brilliance. Good looking car, hope its a little safer than the rest of their line.

I cant wait to get down to the dealer and have a look at one.

Im trying to talk the wife into letting me buy it…. so far so good.

Johnson, the Tiberion starts at 200,000rmb for the previous generation model in China, although from this comment it looks like Hyundai are going to put the new tooling in Korea for the latest model Coupe and send the old tooling to China to make the coupe here, hopefully bringing it down in price:

from what i read up i think the RWD tibs are still some time off. What did u mean by the ‘previous generation’? There was a few design tweaks for 2007 models i.e. the head lights and rear lights, but thats about all, nothing in terms of the drivetrain have changed. Anyhow, I hope the new RWD will actually have more grunt, i mean the current tibs have a 2.5L V6 that develops only 124KW, thats no more than a MX5, and the MX is much better of a car. Back to topic, the Brilliance Coupe looks great, although i cant help but see a tib somewhere in the design lol.

If i was to buy a coupe, which i doubt since i have the Civic 07 typr R penciled in, i’d want something like that, or the new Kia Coupe

Johnson,

There seems to be a few different generation coupes floating around China. The really early 1st gens from ‘97 onwards are thin on the ground but they are around.

2nd Generation and 3rd gen ones are more popular.

Damn thats such a nice car, this looks a lot better than tibbys, yet this shows us chinese cars are proving to have potential! Looks like a mix of jap and european!

Are you blind? It’s hideous. It’s managed to pick up the worst aspects of Euro/Jap/American design and combine them in a body that looks odd (too short, odd window line and as for those headlights!!). Nice wheels though!

I wouldn’t buy it Ash. With the road conditions in China you’d be restricted. You wouldn’t get very far without bottoming out. You might even flip it with some of the holes I’ve seen out there. Don’t forget that it’ll be keyed within a week and if you don’t wash it everyother day it will be filthy. Get a used jeep instead.

Funny you should mention that.

I still havent seen one on the road, despite it being on the market for months.
