In a recent interview with the general manager of BYD, Mr. Xia, he revealed that the upcoming BYD F1 will cost a mere 30,000rmb for the lowest model, rising to 40,00rmb for the top end one. The secret to his low price? They designed entirely in China, and didnt want to outsource the design as this obviously is an expensive service.
There are few other cars in the 30,000 to 40,000rmb namely the Chery QQ, and the Little Noble. Hopefully the BYD F1 can hit it that magic spot.
It is cheap because it is a pirated car. Hence R&D costs nothing.
How do you know its pirated? Are you part of the design team?
