The Suzuki Liana was never a truly succesful car in China, its got everything that most small Chinese families need, its got a nice big trunk for the kids junk and the shopping, its big enough to carry 5 people without any problems, partly due to the 1.6 engines, but why wont it sell well in China? Perhaps its just ugly.
SUZUKI Motor Corp, Japan’s second-biggest minicar maker, will recall Liana compact vehicles in China to fix faults in their transmissions.
The recall, starting tomorrow, covers 11,716 Liana cars made in China between October 27, 2005, and June 9 this year, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said in a statement posted on its Website, citing the auto maker’s local venture. It’s the first recall by Changhe Suzuki Automobile Co.

this happend to be the ‘reasonably priced car’ on Top Gear a while back
I remember reading one magazine article saying that it was heavy on the gas, and wasnt that great to drive.
But still, I cant see why it doesnt sell. 10,000 units in nearly a year. Toyota sells 10,000 Camrys per month, in China.
whats the pricing like for the camrys? its cheap as chips here in Aus, anything like that in China?
190,000rmb to 270,000rmb.
High mid range. The Toyota Reiz looks nicer though.
yeah i noticed the Reiz, esp for its integrated exhuasts…although its never going to be on sale here in OZ, i believe its only available in Japan and China? But correct me if im wrong but i dont think it’ll be any better than the premium Aurion hence another reason why it’ll never get to OZ, I do like it though.
Just curious Ashley, how much will it cost me to import a car into China say import duty and compliance testings? I say this because I’ve always been open to a career in China and i’d love to bring a Holden HSV just for the fun of it…cruising 2 miles an hour in downtown shanghai with a holden sounds fun…lol
