You cant outrun the law anymore.

police bikes You cant outrun the law anymore. It seems the police in Qingdao have a new weapon in the daily fight against road traffic violations! Some very lucky policemen have been given the Honda ST1300 Pan-European touring bike to use on their daily duties. The bike is capable of reaching speeds of upto 240KPH or greater.

Other motorbike police in Qingdao must be extremely jealous as the rest of them seem to be riding old Suzuki 125′s. Poor guys.

Nah, They’d rather sit in the police cars reading newspaper waiting for accidents to happen.

What a waste of money… I’ve never seen a police here in china stopping or chasing somebody for a traffic violation, and considering the chinese are the worst drivers, the most caothics, and the must law disrespectful I’ve ever seen. Seems that a lot of people still don’t figure what is that thing in the corners with color lights for, and the police just don’t care. Everybody here do what they want, when they want and how they want.

This is an unlaw traffic country! But the police uniforms and units are really nice looking!

In a way you are right, Ive never seen a proper police chase either (i.e. the assailant didnt want to get caught and used excessive speed to evade the police)

I have seen drivers been told to pull over and blatantly ignore the police, only to have a motorbike riding police man follow him and flag him down.

These bikes are probably to be used as a show of force rather than to be used in police chases.

They also look modern, which is what the police force is trying to do, modernize their forces.

Just working late at night in my back office which overlooks a long straight road. I heard the whine of a riced up motor (sounded like an overworked sewing machine) and looked out the window to see a white rice machine do a massive hand brake turn then start harrassing a Honda Fit driver by trying to reverse into him, spinning wheels etc.

Then saw two Police Mitsubishi Freecas try and chase him down, followed by two Police on motorbikes.

Ok, I think I take my comment back. I just see too many traffic violations in the streets, I MEAN TOO MANY, many times I nearly got hit by irresponsible drivers, (specially taxi drivers and public transport), under the languid eyes of the police man standing in the corner of the street, seems like they dedicate exclusive attention to the electric scooters with two passengers.

Today I learned that if you say ‘Fuck me Guv, could you make that ticket for traffic violations any more expensive’ they generally comply and double the fine to 200rmb.

    Brain 0 Mouth 1.

Another trip to the ICBC bank tomorrow to pay my fines.

Wow Im so sorry to hear that, did you actually said that in front of the police man? you did it in chinese or english? just to know how this officers are capable to understand when you curse?

Well, if are as “well-trained” as all the other Chinsese drivers all you need is a curvy, winding road and you can easily outrun them.

Plus, who cares about rules and signs here anyway? So, why bother having a traffic enforment in the first place.

Just did the 350km drive from Chengdu to Choingqing yesterday and the number of traffic offenses we saw must be somewhere near infinity. The biggest problem is, that one adopt his/her own driving to that.

But to be honest, sometimes it’s fun and I am really worried about my driving when I get back to Europe…!

    • avatar Ashley says:

if you are British or Irish, I would worry about your driving.

If you are from mainland Europe, just carry on as normal. You wont notice a thing.
