It must be hybrid day in the glorious PRC from what we’re reading.
Chang’an are to start mass producing hybrid cars in China, ten of which, they plan to give to the Beijing Olympic commitee to show off their green credentials when all of those western government sorts turn up in Beijing for the Olympics.
Changan did show off an electric hybrid minivan at the Shanghai Auto Show, and did create Chinas first hydrogen engine, but as to which model Chang’an will be serving up to the Olympic committee China Car Times does not know. Any CCT readers care to take a guess.

A Hybrid Mianbaoche with the whole rear bay containing 50 car batteries.
Could be a Big Ben with pedals??
They already have the Mian Bao Ches with 50 12v batteries in the back in the USA, also Chang’an models I believe.
lol… I was joking :P. not a silly idea though if the motor has enough torque.
Everyone seems to be jumping on the bandwagon in line with the government’s “863 Plan” for development of Electric, and other alternate energy powerplants. You might say that it’s politically correct for a Chinese automaker to do so.
Oh, by the way Ashley do you mean that there are Chinese Mianbaoches already in the US? If so do you know which manufacturers’ products they are?
I found their website before, they also made full sized city buses into electric vehicles using huge batteries.
I will have to find their website again. Their conversions were crude, but they did work. I dont believe they were selling them en masse as of yet.
