Roewe 1.8T – comes with free coffee table.

Yesterday we wrote about the upcoming Roewe 1.8T, and give you a few pictures of the test cars. It seems the test cars wont look anything like the finished product which is shown above. Roewe are saying the 1.8T will be on the market soon, and priced around 20,000rmb (similar to the MG7). The 1.8t 750 will be known as the 750D.
The 750D will be a 5 speed manual gearbox and does 100km on 6litres of fuel (quite good for a big car) the 750D reaches 100kph in 9.5 seconds and will reach 205kph.
The Chinese motoring press are putting the 750D up against the VW Sagitar 1.8T, obviously the two are completely different (other than the engines) as the Sagitar is a shorter model and doesnt have a large coffee table attached to its rear. Also the Sagitar is 30,000rmb more expensive.

I’m disappointed… I would expect a coffee table twice that size…..
sure it looks good but its trying to be something its not.
As Ive said before – you cant make honey out of dog shit!
I still dont understand too much what is this brand about or what are they doing, are copying?, are this refurbished Rovers?, do they have rights for reproduction?, are they trying to compete with MG models?, What are they up to?. The car is not bad looking but its a good reproduction?, and that name, what a bad choice for a brand…
i beleive they purchased the rights to rover designed cars just b4 they went belly up. But do read up on SAIC and rover
To certain models, namely the 75 and 25 from what I understand. They were going to buy Rover out, but due to a certain discrepancy in the Rover accounts, SAIC said forget it, and Nanjing got the whole lot for cheaper.
MUCH cheaper!
I can’t see that this car will be known as the 750D. There is already a 750D and that uses the V6 2.5 litre unit, the same as in the 750E and the new 750i. The 750D is a cheaper version lacking a lot of the spec of the 750E. It also has a different front grill more similar to the original Rover 75.
Perhaps they will change the name to something else for production, but here it clearly shows a 1.8T 750 with the older Rover 75 grill:
