Landwinds Hua Feng on the market

Landwind managed to get hold of the old Fiesta blueprints via its parent company, Chang’an and Fords tie up. The Fiesta saloon was never a big seller in China compared to the Honda Fit (and Fit Saloon) so it seems Ford have signed over the rights to make it to their joint venture partner, to see if they can do any better.

The HuaFeng costs 50,680rmb to 50,980rmb depending on specifications, under the hood is a 16v 1.5l engine, with parts supplied by Bocsh (i.e. ECU) and sporting 100bhp.

The interior doesnt look too bad either:

Hopefully this car will go someway to improving Landwind as a brand in China, and abroad if they are allowed to export this model.

Absolutely hellish, and I’m sorry but interior is a total mess.

The Fenghua looks like a sedan first for Landwind. Word had it that this model would sport a 2.0 liter turbo with Chang’an’s own IPR.
I guess all the tooling will conveniently be moved just across the street, right there in Chongqing.

Sorry I was mistaken about the engine in the Fenghua CV7. The engine I mentioned, the 2.0 liter turbo, apparently will go in the CV8 (luxury?)sedan.
btw Has Landwind changed the name of the CV7 to avoid confusion with the town in Zhejiang?

FYI, Landwind is currently advertising prices for the Hua Feng at 55,888 and 58,888rmb – putting it RIGHT in the middle of the pack of compact chinese cars. The Chery A1 is 54,000 to 59,000rmb (with a 1.3 engine), the Xiali C1 is 55,000 to 63,000rmb (with a 1.3 engine), the new Shanghai Maple is 58,888rmb (with a 1.5 engine), the BYD F3/F3R starts at 59,000rmb (with a 1.5 engine) and the Geely CK starts at 49,000rmb (with a 1.3 engine – higher models have a 1.5 engine). The advantage Landwind POTENTIALLY has is the fact that it is a licensed design from Ford/Changan….basically a “foreign” model even though it’s a chinese car. That could be a strong sales point for them IF it’s manufactured at a similar quality level that the Ford Fiesta was. It will be VERY interesting to see how sales go with the Hua Feng!!

Oh dear god….this car should be strangled at birth. What are they thinking. Don’t build it, but if they do….don’t buy it. It’s hellish!
