Russia and Lifan hook up in 160million USD deal

Russian automaker, Automir, and Chongqing based Lifan autos have signed a deal worth 160million USD to deliver the Lifan 520 sedan to the Russian population. The deal is one of the largest deals for a Chinese maker in the Russian market. Over the next three years, Lifan will be busy sending 30,000 Lifan 520′s over the border in CKD (complete knock down) format for the Russians to reassemble.

Lifan is aiming for sales of 8000 units in the first year of operations in the Russian market, and a further 40,000 units per year by the year 2010. Lifan clearly has very high hopes for the Russian market.

    Hi, chinese friends!
I`m from Russia, and I dont believe, what Lifans is much in demand, coz in Russia very wide range of choice good cars under 12,000 USD (Lifan-520 costs 11,200 USD). For example, most popular cars in Russia – Lada-Priora (it is 100% russian brand), Renault-Logan (Dacia-Logan in Europe, costs at 9,500 USD), Chevrolet-Lanos (it is Daewoo Lanos, also costs 9,500 USD), Ford Focus and over cheaper cars. Most popular chinese brand in Russia – Chery, wich has assembly-plant in Kaliningrad. Most popular chinese car – Chery Amulet (I dont know, how he names in other markets).
    Best regards!
