qq5 Chery creates cancerous tumor

Before we get knocked for dissing Cherys latest offering, the QQ5, we’d like to point out we are great fans of Chery. They are the first ‘proper’ Chinese car company with good looking designs that have sold well all over the world, if any independent Chinese car company is going to hit the big time in Europe and the USA, its Chery, but they aint gotta get no where with the QQ5.

Just what where the Wuhu boys thinking of, or smoking, for that matter when they decided to put the Chery WOW concept into production without changing a thing from the concept? China Car Times understands that concept cars are supposed to be a little bit whacky and out there, but this QQ5 really pushes the envelope!

Interior:

The interior doesnt look too bad, nice, light, airy, reasonably roomy and modern.

Previously we posted pictures of the Chery S12/Wow/QQ5, but it had a different interior.

Is this design from the same guy that did the Chery V2/Riich 2?

Please tell me this is just a pre-production model as it is horribly put together. The rear bumper and tail lights do not fit together properly against the rear quarter panel and hatch. The drivers door does not sit flush against the body. All the tape on the outside, is it there for structural integrity??? The interior is only slightly better, but the door panels do not match the rest of the interior. The passenger door interior panel looks like it sits higher than the back interior panel. Stitching on the back seat looks shoddy as it is puckering the material. Oddly enough, I find it an interesting design that is let down by poor construction, but I could never see myself driving one.

It most certainly is a preproduction one, the other pictures linked also show a vehicle in a similar state.

The tape is there to disguise the car, but as they do most of their testing in Wuhu city, and Chery are the only big car factory there, its rather pointless.

In think they drew inspiration for the roofline from one of these http://s133702574.onlinehome.us/pictures/blog/barbiebeetle.jpg but then they figured why not try to make a station wagon out of it.
I guess the QQ3 will remain a classic for Chery for some time.
Anyone know the mercury content of the water in Wuhu???

Roll of masking tape next to a coke bottle in the back seat (notice a slight 4″ of room between the front and back seat, OUCH!)…So much for screws and bolts, a little sugar water and tape is all you need to build a car today…Those crazy boys at Chery!

I did like the concept car A LOT better.

16″ wheels/tires with fender flares and front side markers would do a lot for this little pony, KILL the BLACK BUMPERS UGH!
Where is the clear back up lights? I guess a kid or a puppy ( IE: a hamburger with paws) is replacable in some cormers of the globe.

On the positive side, when compared with Geely’s Aoo, it doesn’t have those vulnerable protruding hatch hinges, and lock cylinder. And its rear wiper arm even has a decent park position. I like it much better.

    • avatar joninchina says:

Yup dragin, gotta agree with you – it IS much better then the Geely. It’s ALSO much better than the THING Chery calls a “minivan” – now THAT is one UGLY car. I’m not really sure where Chery plans on fitting this car in the QQ family…..the QQ3 still is a top seller in the microcar market, the QQ6 is the “family” QQ (and getting more popular on the streets), the QQ2 will be a bargain basement QQ (23,000 rmb or so) so WHERE does this one fit in? This one seems kind of lost as far as market focus – perhaps they will try and promote it as the “3 door” QQ vs. 5 doors with the other models? It also follows the central dashboard layout like the QQ6….and so does the QQ2. Is this a standard design idea for all new models in the QQ family? It’s not really attractive but it IS kind of endearing in a homely kind of way…..much in the same way that a bulldog is so ugly it’s cute!! It just seems like this car is going to get lost in the shuffle….it just doesn’t seem to have a very good market niche. Chery could prove me wrong, but I don’t think so.

      • avatar Ashley says:

My friend is interested in buying that Minivan for his ever expanding family, we went to see it, its really not so bad once you get past the growth on the roof.

Im in agreement with Dragin, its a hell of a lot better than the Geely Aoo.

The fucking chineses no have imagination!
Is a clon of fiat 500.

    • avatar joninchina says:

Hey buddy, I’ve got a great idea!! Why don’t you celebrate your birthday early and buy a DICTIONARY!! Oh, and maybe learn to use some decent language?

  7. avatar Mememe says:

    Hey Chuan Wan

Thanks for the nice joke, ye right it is a Fiat 500 clone lol. And who would copy a 1975 car ?? lol

And btw lemme rephrase it for you, it seems like you have very poor english

“The Fucking Chinese have no imagination ! It is a clone of Fiat500″

Fiat 500 (1957-1975) now who wants to copy that ? It looks like some people are running out of accusations so they need to go back 50 years to dig out something, lol but nice try though. And if you are referring to the 2007 model then please point out where the QQ5 look like the 2007 Fiat 500, if you can’t then please keep quiet. And do you even know the meaning of a clone ?

  8. avatar jackson li says:

STOP THE ARGUMENT ALREADY! IT DOSEN’T LOOK LIKE FIAT 500, IT LOOKS LIKE A FREAKING BEETLE (NO PUN INTENDED).

  9. avatar Jackson2345889 says:

Have you guys seen the real car yet? It looks way better than this thing.
