16 November 2007 One Comment

At a recent international forum on new energy cars in Beijing, a Chery representitive claimed that by 2010 half of Cherys vehicle sales will be hybrid based models, and a further 20% will be new energy models. Echoing Hu Jin Tao’s sustainable development theory, Chery representitive Liu Zhijia had this to say:

“New energy is a driving force for the sustainable development of auto industry, by 2010 more than fifty percent vehicles produced by Chery will be equipped with hybrid systems, and half of those vehicles will be powered by new energy,”

Liu Zhijia went onto say that Cherys hybrid sedans will be in full production by mid 2008 which will reduce the emissions of Chery vehicles by 10 to 30%. Chery will also begin producing full electric cars, as well as alcohol vehicles. Chery aims to develop its own hydrogen fuel cells by 2015.

Chery has shown off its hybrid cars previously at the Shanghai car show, you can see them here, in this article.
