Certain models made by Chery and Brilliance have met with Euro 5 specifications for the first time in tests by the Environmental Protection Bureau (EPB) of Beijing.
The Beijing EPB has so far registered 200 models as meeting Euro 5 standards, however these have all been foreign or joint venture made cars. Brilliance has made 9 of its Jinbei passenger vans to Euro 5 standards, and 5 of its Zhonghua sedans where as Chery has its mini MPV, Riich (V5) and the A1 (1.3L model) and the QQ (1.3L model) at Euro 5 spec.
Beijing is now taking car emissions very seriously, and has enforced laws stating that cars sold in the capital must be upto Chinese Guo 3 emissions standards,. This has seen certain car models being banned from sale in the capital including the new Chery A1 (not the EU5 model) Suzuki Swift (1.3l) and the Geely Mei Ri/Xia Li N3 mini cars.

“Brilliance and Chery, the only two to meet Euro IV standards”
That’s Euro 4, isn’t it?
