Uhh oh! Two Korean Hyundai employees arrested for leaking info to JAC

According to the news we’ve been receiving, two Korean employees at Hyundai have been arrested for leaking information to the Chinese automaker, Jianghuai Automobile Corporation (JAC)

Korean prosecutors are saying that the ‘Hyundai Two’ sold 270 pages of information on the Sonata transmission system, and a further 3000 pages on the car exterior designs and auto parts designs to JAC for a cool 1.2 million USD.

A Swiss company was later employed to put car parts into production found that JACs designs were actually the same as Hyundais offerings, the Swiss company reported this issue to Hyundai directly, who then called the police.

JAC and Hyundai were previously in a joint venture cooperation to create MPV’s for the Chinese market, Hyundai broke the agreement and created a new JV with Guangzhou Auto. JAC later took the MPV designs and created their own model, the Refine based on the Hyundai H1 MPV. China Car Times is unsure if the plans were a legal, or illegal copy.

Previously, several Kia employees were caught selling Kia secrets to two unnamed Chinese manufacturers, data on welding, assembly, and quality control were leaked out.

As both Korean and Chinese legal authorities go to work on this, it will be interesting to see if justice will triumph, or will there just be lots of tap dancing by all involved. One thing for sure is that the two little guys will be squashed under foot.

JAC is a fantastic company with some of the freshest design talent in the world.
I don’t believe these alligations for one moment.
JAC is the future people.

Proof, this is chris bangle you’re talking to here sunshine and he doesn’t mince his words.

Chris and myself have had many lengthy dealings with chinese automakers over the past few years and whilst many may scoff at the idea, JAC’s use of diverse platform engineering is second to none. In fact, i can quite imagine this is actually Hyundai who are ’stealing’ the data yet have been caught with their pants down and are now desperately trying to cover up this shambles by spinning it on the little guy.

Disgraceful behaviour
