Last week we showed you crash test results for the Hafei Lobo, Brilliance BS4, Changan Ben Ben.
Today, C-NCAP, the body responsible for carrying out crash tests in China published the results.
- Brilliance BS4 - 3 stars
- Hafei Lobo - 2 stars
- Chang’an Ben Ben - 2 stars
We’re not entirely sure how the Chang’an Ben Ben, and the Lobo came out with the same final score, from viewing the pictures (click the above links to see) you can easily see that the Ben Ben doesnt pin the driver to the seat via the dashboard like the Lobo does.

Ok I understand how Lobo got 2 stars but Ben Ben, I am speechless. I hope there is some explanation for this.
I think something is wrong here, Ben Ben crash test looks so fine to me.
Ash , are you sure you got the correct translation ? Hafei Lobo got no airbags and Ben Ben got airbags and they both got the same scores ?
Just because a car has airbags doesn’t mean it’ll perform any better in a crash test. Teh airbag might not be strong enough, or deploy correctly or indeed if the structure of the car is so poor it wouldn’t matter if an airbag was present at all. but as you say further explanation of the scores would be good.

Brilliant can’t wait for them. One question. There are equivelant tests in Europe (Euro NCAP) and America (not sure what they’re called), but how similar are the chinese ones and how stringent are their tests and how do their ’stars’ compare to the Euro NCAP stars?
