Lifan creates MINI look alike - AKA Lifan 320

22 January 2008 19 Comments

Lifans new range of cars, the Lifan 320. We’re unsure where the car was shown for the first time, or what is under the hood. Perhaps the 1.6 Tritec engine that Lifan have in their engine portfolio.

We’re unsure as to if the Lifan 320 will actually be put into production. Its certainly a breakaway from Lifans usually clean cut designs.

Production? Hopefully not. Save the world from another nasty knock off. That looks like the love child of a Daihatsu Sirion and a Bimmer Mini that fell of the the ugly tree hitting every branch on the way down.

Ha Ha, it was only a matter of time! Why don’t Chinese companies make copies of classics and tap that market? Copy of the original mini (like suzuki did in Japan) or a copy of the Mk1 golf, Fiat 500 or my favourite the Hillman Imp. Copy these with decent engines and ….. Loads of people would buy them as fun cars.

I saw this car in the factory yesterday. It’s not the prettiest of cars. Production slated for the end of the year.

Engine wise you’re probably looking at a 1.0 and 1.3 litre.

Typical copy of a western car, except something happened in the translation. It’s a copy, but a very very bad one. It’s so damn ugly.

It doesnt look that bad, to be fair! Its probably got improved rear space, thanks to the added doors!

    DAIHATSU SIRION!!!
I knew I’d seem this before!!
    that’s it…

    I think it looks horrible.
    typical of chinese manufacturers…
someone here has said this before:
Take a great western design, mix it with some other great car, make it horrible and sell to the chinese..

I’m guessing BMW will taken legal action to get this car stopped from going into production. Lifan has made no effort to disguise it but at least they have made a 4 door version which is more than BMW has done.

I don’t like the Mini. Anyway, I thought boot space was important in China? There is hardly any in a Mini.

    Disgusting looking.

I have seen this car in the metal. It does not actually look like a Mini very much, except perhaps the rear. It however did immediately remind me of a Japanese car from around 8 years ago available on the Japanese market. Whether this was the Daihatsu Sirion I can’t tell you.

  • mark said:

Here’s a link to the Sirion. This is the old model which it looks more like. http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/reviews/review.aspx?model=173

I am being fair. It’s hideous. And giving it rear doors doesn’t make it have more space….just makes the doors smaller.

    I love it!!!
Looks like a cross between a mini and a micra.
I’d buy one today if I could

Every one that sits here and throws out there little negative remarks on how ugly or cheap or whatever. Chinese people are smart they see a need for an economical car for less, and thats what this is. Us as americans always thinking about the looks. Well its gotten us real far hasn’t it.

  • guesser said:
