The Roewe 550, we hear, is ready to go on the market in April this year, but we haven’t had a proper look at the Roewe 550 interior, until now.

Pictures were taken from Roewe Site">Roewe.co.nr, a site dedicated to the Roewe range, who seemed to have taken them from the blog of a Roewe sales employee.

What can we say? Possibly the best looking interior from a Chinese car maker yet? Although its clearly a pre-production model, the Roewe 550 is shaping up to be an excellent car!

    very nice cluster!!!
I’ve never liked digital speedometers, by this can be acceptable since it has that awesome tach in the center!!! The lighting is also very cool…
    .
I didn’t like the overall design of the car though…
    .
and I wonder what would that emergency pushbutton do… what happens if you push it…?
does it eject you through the roof..?? does it self-destruct..? haha
    .
all it matters is it’s market segment… how much is this going to cost, and what competitors is it aiming at??

Every time I see this car it get more gawdy. The grille is over the top. The interior….well a strange mix. The centre console is similar to the new shape Renault Laguna and the digital instruments: what can I say. What on earth were they thinking when they thought that that would be a good idea! Only Lexus has been successful with digital instruments and that’s only because they look like analogue dials!!

Great stuff. By far the best from a home grown Chinese car. Can be a bench mark for the likes of Chery, BYD…

  • Ash (author) said:

I hear Chery are actually using Lexus as a bench mark for suspension designs these days…..

BYD? Forget it, they are in their own little world!

    Colin,

Are you the missing 5th member of the Four Yorkshiremen?

  • Colin G said:

I am not….who the hell are the four yorkshiremen anyway?

  • Colin G said:

Anyone can set a benchmark against lexus. The trick is to meet it and I doubt the chinese have matched the might that is Lexus!!

who the hell are the four yorkshiremen?? [2]
    .
    Where are you from Colin?

  • jackson liu said:

there are people that actually like digital instruments…
think Citroen Picasso, Renault Twingo, some old GSI Opels….
I hate them, but there are people that think it’s cool..
    .
The Lamborghini Reventón has some freak digital instruments as well, inspired on figther jets instruments… but in this case, you can switch to analog mode, like lexus…
    .
The dominant tach in the center, combined with the red lighting makes this cluster look great, IMO.. I think they tried to please every taste by inserting that digital speedometer.

    Thanks for the link!

The interior is a fantastic effort IMO, in danger of overshadowing the bigger 750 however..

Not Yorkshire anyway….North of the border, in the capital.

  • Colin G said:

that’s the problem though. If you try and please everyone then you end up pleasing nobody as you’ve got too much of everything thrown in together.

    A Scot!?!?!

No wonder you’re never happy ;)

    NICE!

  • Colin G said:

I am happy and I don’t own a chinese car. Wonder if the two are connected? Or perhaps I’m not from south of the border…that always makes me happy!!

  • jackson liu said:

    what do you drive, colin?

  • himi said:

This is better than expected, but materials still look cheap and shiney!

  • himi said:

Well at least exterior design is original! Somethin that we don’t see many times on cars coming from China…

  • Colin G said:

I know I will get a lot of slagging about what I drive, but I don’t care. It’s a great car. I have a Skoda Fabia vRS diesel, which has been upgraded to 180hp. Very fast, very economical and great fun to drive!

  • jackson liu said:

what’s the matter about your fabia.
Fabia is an ok car, Skoda version of the Polo, I see no problems about that.
what upgrades have you done to it?

  • Colin G said:

There is still a stigma attached to a Skoda. However, I’ve not done much. The car was very well equipped when I got it (xenons, autochanger, cruise etc) so I got it remapped to take power from 130hp and average of 50mpg (town/motorway) to 178hp and average of 48mpg. I think it’s a fair trade. Certainly gives some other cars a fright!!
