The roewe seems to be a more comprehensive redesign of the original Rover car, with different metal work and dashboard. But it’s still got that front end with a huge grille on it.

so what is going to happen now with MG/Roewe and this car. What’s going to be sold and will these cars ever come to europe?

colin, i think the roewe is the better looking motor to be honest, but i prefer the sporty look of the MG7

I think the Roewe is most succesful at the rear where they’ve done most work. The interior seems fine, although I can’t tell about the build quality. It’s the front that goes wrong. It uses the facelifted Rover front end (never a good start) and they made the grille bigger (again not a wise move). If they’d worked on the front as much as they worked on the back they might have had a really good looking car.

from my point of view I believe that this chinnese car has not got the same quality in both aspects inside and outside the car. in my opinion i prefer the rover grill like in the past. roewe is not a really good name for a car or the future in europe. rover had a really powerful brand

I agree that Rover had a powerful brand, but the problem it was having stems from the days of BMW ownership where they sold Rover’s as English gentleman’s cars. Who wants an old mans car in this day and age. Then BMW sold them and they were stuck with an image they couldn’t revamp. so yes it was powerful but possibly for the wrong reasons, hence the success of MG.

I couldn’t judge on the build quality of the cars but the picture of the interior doesn’t bode well, although the style of it seems ok.

The best Rovers were the PB6 3500 series and the best of these was the ‘S’. The others were all mamahuhu, and the Roewe is worse - a poor copy of a poor car, and the build quality is showing up now after a few months of use.
I have an original ‘69 3500 and an original ‘72 3500S, both still going strong and as good as the day they were made, very little reapair or mechanical work required-and that sweet Buick based alloy V8 !!!!

I like my Rover 75 and if some day I need to buy another car, I will try to get a used car produced by the company MG Rover.
