All hail the Chery QQ5. We love it.

The Chery QQ5 was nicked named the cancerous tumor on China Car Times, but newer pictures reveal that it is actually a pretty decent looking, albeit cartoon like, car. The QQ5 looks like it will cheer up any drab city scape with its funny looks!

The QQ5 is expected to come with a 1.3l engine, which is the same as in the Chery A1. Previously we posted pictures of the QQ5 going through internal crash testing.

Really funny looking car, definitely cartoonish. I wonder how a car like that would do overseas.

I like the way the front lights and the rear lights are identical colors, not quite sure which is the front or rear on this one!

      I love it.

I think is still a cancerous tumor.

The front end actually looks decent in a funny way. Too bad the profile view is so horrid. It looks like a VW Beetle got pregnant. It would look so much better if they removed the B-pillar and made it a giant window like on a Merc CL :)

Cancerous tumor with a belly ache!! – its totally fugly – will be another flop and i hope they put the designer back in kindergarten or the nut house!!
Ash I think that you are getting to have been in PRC too long-next thing you will be condoning spitting, picking your nose in public and getting hit in the nuts by errant supermarket trolleys-how can you in all honesty say this abortion is “pretty decent looking” and to top it off “WE LOVE IT” !!!! Please take an extended holiday back in old blighty before its too late!

I am tempted to side with Ash, but I think my reaction to this car can be summed up thusly: it is the automotive version of a bulldog or pug. It is SO UGLY it is CUTE!! I guess Chery is going to fit this in as the 2 door QQ – and it WILL sell. It probably won’t be the sales smash like the QQ3 is – but it won’t be a flop either. One interesting thing – if they put the 1.3 engine in it, this could be the most “spirited” of QQ’s to drive. It looks to be about the size of a QQ3 but with a 1.3 engine – it might actually have some “decent” performance times (decent being a VERY relative term here)!! There IS one positive thing we can say about it though – we know FOR SURE that it ISN’T a copy of anything else on the road – NOBODY else would ever build this :P !!!!!

Looking at the pics again, I stand corrected. It is bigger than the QQ3 (maybe the same chassis as the QQ6?) – this MIGHT be the QQ “station wagon” (or estate car as the british say). Looking at it from that standpoint, it’s not so bad after all – it is DEFINITELY the most “unique” station wagon I’ve ever seen!!

Looking at the size, I don’t even think I will buy it. Not suitable for family at all.
