February 2008 Top Selling Models!

February is what could be called a slow month for car sales, with everyone wanting to spend a few dollars on their family over the Chinese New Year festival, cars are usually shoved aside. Another factor that affected car sales in 2008 was the adverse weather that affected most of Southern China.

  1. VW Santana - 20,700
  2. Buick Excelle -15,900
  3. Toyota Camry - 12,200
  4. Toyota Corolla - 12,000
  5. Chery QQ - 11,600
  6. Hyundai Elantra - 11,100
  7. Tianjin Xia Li - 10,200
  8. BYD F3 - 9,400
  9. VW Passat - 9,200
  10. Chevrolet Lova - 9,100

The Santana still comes out on top, but the Jetta has disappeared from the Top 10 in January. Strong Santana sales could be attributed to the fact that many taxi companies are currently upgrading their range of Santanas to the newer Santana GP/Vista model.

It is no surprise that Toyota is gaining in popularity in China.
In addition to my 2001 Mercedes C240, I also own a 1990 Toyota Celica ST purchased new. My Toyota is the most reliable car I have ever own. After 18 years it still almost runs like new. In many ways it exceeds the quality of my Mercedes C240, also bought new.
