FAW throws out a new car, China Car Times impressed

17 March 2008 7 Comments

Over the last year or so, the designs of Chinese made cars on the whole have increased dramatically. Gone are the boxy lines that were more reminessent of 1988, leaving us with some rather modern designs that are easily able to compete on the international stage. The below car, the FAW Bentung A501 is the latest motor to roll out from FAW under the Bentung name.

The A501 was designed by ItalDesign Giugiaro spa. The A501 will be a ’sporty’ model, sold at around 100,000rmb. Engine power will come from either a 1.6 self developed motor, or the Mazda sourced 2.0l engine, which was used in the Mazda 6.

i think this car is based on the focus plateform just from the look of the car.

It does look like it. Plus for some strange reason the side profile towards the back screams the old Citroen C5 to me.

This looks better than the first Benteng.

I think this are photoshopped pictures. I hope that the real new Benteng is not same style of shapes/design as Ford or Mazda like in this pics. (2006-08 model of Benteng is not same style of shapes/design as them)

Apart from the dull back I really like this design. Yes it somehow reminds of the Focus but this would make a great deal under the existing model. It looks too small to replace it.
