Another one of FAW’s test mules has been out spotted doing the rounds. No one is quite sure what this car is, is it a replacement for the existing Bentung, or is it another model to complement it?

Is this the FAW A501 that we showed the other day? We will find out more at the Beijing Auto Show later this year when FAW officially show off the A501!

interesting car, well done.
these are the cars chinese manufacturers need, in my opinion…
.
no need to be fancy, no need to look upclass…
.
just honest, well done cars..
.
.
some considerations though:
side, specially around the C-pillar, resembles the Nissan Sentra.
Tail lights overall shape is very much like the new corolla, but it’s finishing is still to be revealed.
Is this same platform as 2008 Mazda 6!?
Is this same platform as 2008 Mazda 6!? (Its shape/design is looks like that)
This is a great design nothing over the top, looks a little (dare I say it) Japanese. They could do well abroad with this model.
Ash,
to answer your question: This is the future B131 (model code) - and the former A501 - on FAW’s own P2 platform.
Design was done by an Italien company, 1,6L base gasoline engine with EMS to be delivered by former Siemens VDO, now Continental China.
We assume a price range between 80-120K RMB, with SOP Q4/08, which means, that the car may arrive at FAW-dealer in Q1/09.
Initial production volume for 2009 10K units p.a., manufactured at Changchun operation.
Hope that clarifies.
Cheers
Mike
i think it is the same platform as mazda 6, just like the shorten version of Bentung.
Agree with cocar, its the B-segment alternative to Benteng.
