Geely GT – Geely to stick it in the fast lane?

27 March 2008 12 Comments

China Car Times is unsure what to make of these rendered pictures of what we are told is a future upmarket Geely range. Geely have become synonymous with cheap and cheerful cars since their creation, it was Li Shu Fu’s dream that every Chinese person could afford mobility in the form of an automobile. However, it seems that Geely may well be taking the high road that has been tread by many a German automaker before it. Remember when VW were making nothing but low end cheap cars, even Audi were at it by rebadging certain VW hatchbacks. Look where VW and Audi are today, can Geely pull off the same trick? Well, perhaps they just might with these cars.

The Geely GT has a new logo, its not the last Geely group logo, nor is it from the the Geely logo competition, instead it seems Geely are creating a whole new upmarket brand! Or as Erik kindly pointed out via email, Geely designers seem to secretly release any old rendering they made in their lunch hour.

Beijing 2008 International Car Show is expected to be a show stopper for Geely, who are planning to launch 18 new vehicles in one sitting. We’re not sure if the above Geely GT will be launched or not.

I have a feeling about Geely. I don’t know why but I really hope they succeed in becoming a quality brand, and the GT is just the type of car that could do it. I doubt they’ll actually release this, but maybe they could use the ideas on the GT to influence future Mibao (Beauty Leopard) designs.

That is a hell of a car, sorry everyone, please forgive me, but I have to say it: this car is so fucking cool!!!

I think I will be visiting the Beijing Auto Show, if this car make it to the exhibition I will be stuck in it for a while.

Pontiac Solstice, Maybach Exelero, Ferrari 599 GTB, Maserati GT…

A mix of cars in this very beautiful concept.

Absolutely breath-taking! If only Geely would revive Chinese craftsmanship and make this by hand with perfectly hammered body panels :) Also, they better have the engine to back it up! I’d hate to see it come with a 2.3L or something stupid like that!

Nice looking car, I’ll wait till the real car is shown at the auto show. After all, the Chinese media put out plenty of promising photoshops. If the real vehicle ends up like this, I’m hoping it gets released in the states soon.
