In news that could be described as LUVVLY JUBBLY by Del Boy, a company named Shanghai UK, has bought a small British company called ‘Robin Glass Fibre‘ for the grand sum of 13,000GBP (a lot more than the 10GBP then what MG-Rover was sold for)
March 27, 2008 — Shanghai UK has announced the acquisition of Tamworth based automotive technology specialist, Robin Glass Fibre (RGF) in a £13,000 deal which is set to underpin the company’s expansion in the UK and European Union market.
RGF was set up following the collapse of Reliant Motors and specialises in the repair and remanufacture of glass fibre body panels. The pioneering West Midlands company has developed exclusive Intellectual Property and is focused upon GRP repair solutions. The company applies groundbreaking repair technologies on behalf of its clients, including Isopon, Hammerite and Bostik. Operating from spacious premises on the outskirts of Tamworth, Robin Glass Fibre has parking for 3 cars and employs 2 people.
Shanghai UK did not actively trade in 2007, but expects the RGF acquisition to be earnings enhancing within the current financial year.
Coinciding with the RGF acquisition, Shanghai UK has also announced the appointment of Kev Howe as President: British Isles, Europe, Middle East and Africa. Kev has a distinguished track record within the automotive sector and returns from Florida to assume his new position.
One would be wise to point out, that Kevin Howe, was the pie eating gent that pretty much sent MG-Rover into the ground. We’re not even sure if Shanghai UK is a real Chinese car company, but seeing as its car and China related, it gets on China Car Times.

Parking for 3 cars and has 2 employees…. what happens if they get 2 customers at the same time?? This is assuming that both employees drive to work.
if they are the three wheeled reliant robins, then there is space for at least 10 cars.
You know its bad when a companies best assets are its parking spaces…
This company sounds dodgy from the start. Intellectual property and the 2 employees (husband and wife team maybe) sold for 13,000 Pounds to a company that didn’t trade in 2007. Nothing against RGF itself, it was most likely run by a nice old gentleman fixing up old Reliant vehicles who decided it time to move on (not unusual in the repair business).
Bostik, Hammerite and Isopon (hard to find info on Isopon) are all basically adhesive companies or suppliers to the automotive industry so what does RGF have to offer them??? I’m not the smartest person in the world……(add sarcastic comments here) but if you were a pioneering company wouldn’t you try to sell your IP stuff a bit higher than that?
I can offer anyone a GRP repair service for a price.. All it involves is fiberglass body filler followed by some bog and a bit of sanding and presto…. my semi patented technology…..note, the more Pijiu I drink, the less I can guarantee my work
On another note…. Anyone have any good links for Only Fools and Horses downloads?? Great series that
Bit early with the April Fools Jokes Ash?
Thats what I thought!
Tomorrow is good
2 Car Parking spaces for £13,000!! In todays property market that sounds like a bargain!!…and in Tamworth!! Perfect for some “bijou” executive apartments!!
The Bostik is obviously for sniffing while they apply the P40 isopon and finally top off with the hammerite.
The company has plans for a VTOL version of it’s car as demonstrated on Top Gear.
Kev’s plans is to sell off the 2 car parking spaces to a totally separate property company and then drive the rest into recievership
