Chrysler to sign OEM deal with Greatwall, ala Chery?

China Car Times believes the whole motoring world is quite familiar with the financial situation at Chrysler, Chrysler are doing anything to cut down on costs and boost sales at the moment. They have signed OEM deals with Chery previously to provide some of Cherys cars that can be rebadged for overseas markets as Chrysler cars, now it seems that Chrysler is interested in Great Wall as well. Great Wall makes the excellent Hover SUV, as well as the infamous range of ‘clone cars‘ that got our Italian friends worked up into a stupor!

Great Wall officials did mention that they have been approached by a world famous car manufacturer regarding a potential OEM deal, but they did not say which manufacturer, however, the motoring press has since reported that Chrysler executives visited the Great Wall manufacturing center earlier this year in January.

Great Wall is planning to branch out from compact SUV’s and pick up trucks later this year when it officially launches its small car range, and its MPV. Towards the end of 2008, we should be seeing the first Great Wall sedan, which will be interesting as Great Wall are famed for their ‘tough’ looking motors. Will be seeing an Audi All Roader type vehicle? We hope so.

  1. How can it be, Ash, that someone uses this alias on your website as the person above? I don’t agree you let someone use this alias. Please stop it.
    Erik.

Erik, i totally agree. He continues to use that name, he poisons the atmosphere and encourages a nationalist overseas Chinese element to post equally poisonious anti Korean messages. Yesterday I had to spend a good few minutes cleaning out useless, not worth my time anti Chinese and anti Korean postings.

I wish both sides would grow up, to be honest.

furthermore – I cant be on the site 24/7, thus cant see every post. I remove them as I see fit, the only other option is to moderate every post before they go live, but I fear that may stifle some of the discussion.

erik, you haven’t seen anything yet. This kimchi kid stormed this blog once and always think that he knows more about GM cars than a GM staff, lol
